BMW redesigned their 3 Series in 2019, but they’ve waited a year before introducing the M340i performance trim. The M340i trim, which will also be available with all-wheel drive (M340i xDrive), will be the most powerful 3 Series ever built besides the M3. (BMW has yet to announce anything regarding the redesigned M3.)

The new M340i will come powered by a turbocharged inline-six that produces 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. That’s an increase of almost 130 horsepower when compared to base 3 Series. BMW expects the M340i to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just over four seconds.

The luxury small car will come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Sorry, enthusiast crowd – BMW won’t give you the option of shifting your own gears. However, they will offer paddle shifters for that almost-manual feel.

BMW says the interior is designed to “offer a modern space with a focus on driving enjoyment.” The five-seater claims to have more space in the second row than its predecessor.

Leather seating will be available, though BMW’s synthetic leather isn’t a bad choice if you’d rather not upgrade. Standard tech features include 10.25-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and BMW’s all-new iDrive 7 Operating System.

If you’re looking for a fun daily driver that can carve canyon corners on the weekends, the M340i may be the right choice for you.
